Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '336' in pencil in upper left corner of front pastedown. Purchased, together with Add. 8341, 8400, 8405, 8484 and 8591, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 336 (part).

2. ff. 87-131. 'Relatione di Savoia del Clarissimo Monsignor Giovanni Correro stato Ambasciatore per la Serenissima Republica di Venetia presso quell'Altezza', relazione of Savoy by Giovanni Correr; [1566]. Inc. 'Serenissimo Prencipe e sapientissimo Senato / Poi che quel che io ho da trattare'. Another, imperfect copy in Add. 48131 (Yelverton MS. 146), art. 34, ff. 762-769v. The text differs from the relazione published by Albèri, s. ii, vol. 5 (Florence, 1858), pp. 1-46.
3. ff. 132-150v. 'Relatione dello stato, forze e governo del Gran Duca di Toscana', relazione of Tuscany during the reign of Grand Duke Ferdinand II (1621-1670); n.d. Inc. 4. ff. 151-176v. 'Relatione di Milano e suo stato con particolare descrizione della Valtellina'; circa 1583-1592. Inc. 'Le cose che a me son parse di dover riferire a Vostra Altezza'. Anonymous relazione, written between 1583 and 1592 as Don Carlos de Aragón y Tagliavia, Duke of Terranova, is mentioned as the present Governor of Milan (f. 176). A later adaptation of the text covering the time of Governor Don Pedro Enríquez de Acevedo, Conde de Fuentes de Valdepero and datable 1606-1610, in Add. 8540, art. 4, ff. 41-50v.
5. ff. 177-188. 'Relatione del stato, costumi, disordini et remedii di Venetia', anonymous relazione of Venice; n.d. Inc. 'Venetia si distingue in cinque parti. Prima nella nobiltà. 2a in Cittadini. 3a in Preti. 4a in Frati. 5a in Monache / La nobiltà governa tutta la Republica'. 'Sommario della Congiura machinata contro la Serenissima Republica di Venetia', account of the so-called 'Bedmar conspiracy' against Venice following the Treaty of Pavia in 1617, which, it was claimed, intended to overthrow the Venetian republic and was organised in 1618 by Pedro Téllez y Girón, Duke of Osuna, viceroy of Naples (1616-1620), working through a secret agent in the Republic, Giacomo Pierre, and with the support of the Spanish ambassador in Venice Alfonso della Cueva, marquis of Bedmar; 1618. Inc. 'Comparve avanti gl'eccellentissimi dell'eccelso Consiglio de' Dieci Antonio Giuffrè'.
