PAPERS relating to the dispute between Urban VIII and Odoardo Farnese; 1641-1645. Italian and Latin. Papers relating to the dispute between Pope Urban VIII (1623-1644) and the Duke Odoardo Farnese (1622-1646) over territories in the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. The dispute was the cause of the so-called War of Castro between the Papacy and the League formed by Odoardo Farnese, Duke Ferdinand II of Tuscany, Duke Francis I of Modena, and the Republic of Venice. Many of the collected papers relate to the involvement in the dispute of the Republic of Genoa and of the Genoese Cardinal Ottaviano Raggi, together with his nephews Stefano and Lorenzo (later Cardinal) Raggi. Mid 17th-cent. gilt-tooled Italian binding of full vellum, restored for Guilford; title (?) in ink on lower edge, unreadable.
