ACCOUNT OF THE CONCLAVE for the election of Pius V; 1566. Italian. Copy. Pope Pius V was elected on 7 Jan. 1566. The MS. is entitled (f. 1) 'Conclave nel quale fu creato Pio V 1566'. Inc. (f. 1) 'Il Conclave nel quale fu creato Pio Quinto, il numero de Cardinali passava cinquanta', expl. (f. 55v) 'il Papato o altra dignità ecclesiastica'. Armorial bookplate of Pietro Gradenigo di Santa Giustina (front pastedown), with MS. ownership note 'Ex libris N.V. Petri Gradonico Senatoris de Confinio S. Justinae ab eo collectis ad utilitatem studi sui, et ad usum Nobilium Reipublicae': for Gradenigo's bookplate see Bragaglia, vol. ii, no. 538: circa 1730. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '88' in pencil in upper part of f. 1.
