1. ff. 1-7. Anonymous diary, 1456-1476. Italian. Diary of events in Rome from the time of Pope Calixtus III to Sixtus IV. Inc. 'Nelli 1457 à di 9 d'Ottobre e fù di lunedi venne Madama Lucretia', expl. 'à di 13 tornò, et à di 14 si partì per andare à Napoli'.
2. ff. 8-198. Diary of Giovanni Francesco Firmani, 1529-1565. Latin and Italian. This diary relates to events in the papal curia between the reigns of Pope Clement VII and Pope Pius IV. Inc. 'Die Vigesima quarta Augusti 1529 Reverendissimi Cardinales de Farnesio, de Santa Cruce', expl. 'ac omnes alios ibidem repertos interfecerant, et ex ipsis Turcis perierant circa quinque millia'. Add. 8447 is another copy of this text.
Paper; ff. 198. 310 x 220mm. Watermarks of fleur-de-lis and bird, neither very similar to any examples in Haewood, Watermarks. Full vellum binding over pasteboards, late 17th or early 18th cent.
