Both documents signed (ff. 22, 33) by Camillo Mellio and Giulio Olivello, 21 May 1629; testimonial also signed (f. 33v) by Gregorio Naro and Martio Nucula, 22 May 1629. Title (f. 1) 'Testamentum Comitis Sanctae Flore'. Inc. (f. 2) 'In Nomine Sanctissimae ... Noverint universi et singuli hoc presens publicum transumptum instrumentum Testamenti ... quod Nos Gregorius Narus Prothonotarius Apostolicus ... deputatus ad instantiam ... Alexandri de Comitibus Sfortiae Ducis Signis ... transumi et exemplari ... fecimus', expl. (f. 22) 'Datum Romae ... anno ... millesimo sexcentesimo vigesimo nono Indictione XII. Die vero 21 mensis Maii Pontificatus ... Urbani ... VIII ... Presentibus ... Dominico Amodeo et Raynaldo Buratto connotariis testibus ... rogatis'; inc. (f. 23) 'In Nomine Sanctissimae ... Evidence of missing seal (f. 33v) and holes at inner lower margins of leaves for appended seal, also missing. Old shelfmark in black ink '125' in paper fragment pasted onto upper left corner of front pastedown. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '568' in pencil in paper fragment pasted onto upper left corner of front pastedown. Purchased, together with Add. 8542, 8565, 8569, and 8627, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 568 (part).
Vellum, except f. 1 of paper; ff. 33, plus one unfoliated blank after ff. 22 and 33. Old foliation in ink '2-34' (ff. 2-33), including blank after f. 22. 216 x 153mm. Horizontal catchwords on each leaf. Two Italian hands. Mid 17th-cent. Italian binding of full vellum; restored.
