Foligno, ‘Codici di materia veneta nelle biblioteche inglesi’, in Nuovo Archivio Veneto, n.s., 6, xi (1906), pt. ii, no. xci, pp. 181-182. Old shelfmark 'XI' in pencil and stamp 'biblioth / h.f. / J770' on f. 1; identifiable with Falconieri MS. 11 in Guilford's catalogue Add. 8220, f. 10. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. Purchased from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, possibly as part of lot 332, together with Add. 8401, 8404, 8590, 8654, and 8707.

(f. 83) 'In nome dell'Onnipotente Iddio Padre figlio et spirito santo l'anno 1571 della Incarnatione di Nostro Signore et sisto del Pontificato di Pio', expl. (f. 78v) 'o presumi in modo alcuno' (see Add. 20052, ff. 238-244v, for a copy or the original Latin text).
5. ff. 78v-80v. 'Notato dell'Illustrissimo Granvela', a final note on the League by Cardinal Granvelle partially translated from Latin, inc. (f. 78v) 'Perche questo anno non si possono mettere insieme', expl. (f. 80v) 'della santità di Pio Quinto et sede Apostolica si determinavano' (see Add. 20052, ff. 248v-249, for a copy of the original Italian and Latin text).
6. ff. 91-122. 'Discorso sopra la pace fatta co'l Turco dalla Signoria di Vinetia dell'anno 1573 d'Incerto autore', anonymous remarks on the peace treaty between Venice and Turks in 1573. Inc. 'Non e' meraviglia che dalla maggior parte delle genti in Italia', expl. 'et penetraranno sempre crudelmente nei nostri cuori'.
7. ff. 123-124v. 'Dichiaratione della volontà del Re Henrico sopra la rottura della Guerra contro il Re di Spagna', declaration of war against Spain by Henry IV, King of France. Inc. 'Persona non e' in questo Regno', expl. 'ma che ciascuno habbia da osservare sotto pena di disobedienza. Fatto in Parigi questo di vi di Gennaro 1595 / Signata Henrico / Copia a basso De Zenville'.
8. f. 125-125v. 'Regni Turce Cathastrophe', prophecy of the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1596 given to the King of Hungary by Antonio Torquato of Ferrara in 1480. Latin. Inc. 'Antonii Torquati Ferrariensis Philosophi, Medici, Astrologi Clarissimi pronosticon Regnorum Europae mutationibus Matthie Regi Ungarorum anno 1480 dixit', expl. 'et Maumettana secta cessabit, passimque Maumettani, atque Judei ad Christi baptisma convolabunt. Cui sit honor, et gloria in sempiterna secula. Amen'.
Paper; ff. 127+i, plus one unfoliated blank after f. 7. Composite volume. ff. 76-80 misplaced after f. 75 should be after f. 90. Modern pencil foliation 1-125 (followed here), repeating twice nos 7 and 9. Erratic old foliation in ink. 286 x 210mm. Horizontal catchwords on each page. Four hands: (a) artt. 1-2; - (b) artt. 3-4; - (c) art. 5; - (d) artt. 6-7. Guilford binding of quarter vellum with decorated paper covers over pasteboards; some leaves restored at beginning and end with loss of text.
