The chronicle covers the history of the Marquisate and the tyranny of Ezzelino da Romano, with particular focus on Padua, and was completed by Rolandino of Padua in 1262; inc. (f. 14v) 'Cronica facta Marchie', expl. (f. 293) 'intrante mense Aprilis'. Preceded by (f. 2) the prologue, inc. The chronicle was first published by F. Osio in Venice in 1636; the edition by L. A. Muratori (ed.), Rerum Italicarum Scriptores, viii, 1723, coll. 157-360, has been revised by A. Bonardi in Rerum Italicarum Scriptores, n.s., t. viii, pt. i, 1905, pp. 7-174. Frontispiece (f. 1) with illuminated escutcheon of the Ezzelini family, here called 'Acciolini' (see N. de Claricini Dornpacher, Lo stemma dei da Onara o da Romano, Padua, 1906). Copied in Padua in 1619 by the notary Gaspare di Bernardino Maggione from a 14th-century MS on vellum in the library of Giacomo Zabarella (see I. P. Tomasini, Bibliothecae Patavinae manuscriptae publicae et privatae, Utini, 1639, p. 93), now lost (colophon, f. 293; A. Bonardi, op.cit., p. xii and n. 2). Marginal notabilia added by a later hand.
