Treaties, correspondence and papers relating to the borders of Dalmatia; 1669-1672. Italian, partly translated from Turkish. Partly signed. The material relates to the two peace treaties concerning the borders of Dalmatia signed by Venice and the Ottoman Empire in Sept. 1669 and Oct. 1671 respectively. The MSS. are briefly described by C. Foligno, ‘Codici di materia veneta nelle biblioteche inglesi’, in Nuovo Archivio Veneto, n.s., 6, xii (1906), pt. ii, no. cxliii, p. 342, and mentioned in Markotic, p. 267. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '355' in pencil in upper left corner of f. i of 8607, and in upper right corners of f. 1 of Add. 8607 (cancelled), and of ff. i (cancelled) and 1 of Add. 8608. Purchased, together with Add. 8603, 8604, 8605, 8609, 8623, and probably 8606, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 355 (part).
