Purchased, together with Add. 8662, 8664, 8665, 8668, 8669, 8673, 8677, 8678, 8679, and 8680-8681, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 242 (part).

Inc. 'Le molte invasioni, che ha sofferto il Regno di Napoli', expl. 'et pagati per quel tempo da i Padroni d'esse galere / Finis'. A revised version in Add. 29444, ff. 164-176v is the one published by Albèri, s. ii, v. v (Florence, 1858), pp. 449-472, with the attribution to Alvise Lando and the date 1580.

8. ff. 129-132v. Account of historical evidence for the rights held by the Apostolic See over the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily; n.d. Inc. 'Del Regno di Napoli, e dell'Isola di Sicilia, la Sede Apostolica è diretta Padrona', expl. 'havendo la Sede Apostolica l'alto, e diretto Dominio del Regno di Napoli, li spetta dare il Bailo'.

9. ff. 133-136v. Refutation of the rights of the Apostolic See over the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily'. Inc. 'L'Autore della scrittura si diffonde in provare le ragioni che nelli Regni di Sicilia, e Napoli hà il sommo Pontefice, expl. 'e tutela del feudatario Pupillo, e li casi sopranarrati à quelli si ponno ridurre.'

Paper; ff. 138+xxviii, plus 18 unfoliated interleaved blanks. A final gathering of four leaves (ff. 137-138, plus two endleaves) added at the end of the volume. 307 x 218mm. Horizontal catchwords on each leaf. One Italian hand. 17th-cent. binding of vellum with round spine in compartments.
