TRACT RELATING TO THE BANKING SYSTEM IN NAPLES; circa 1761. Italian. A manual concerning the banking system in Naples. Include are detailed descriptions of credit certificates and of contracts of loans on pledges and guidelines for double-entry bookkeeping. Many examples of credit certificates are dated 1761 (ff. 8v, 15v, 28, 28v). The MS. is entitled (f. 1) 'Notizie de' Banchi della Città di Napoli'. Inc. (f. 1) 'Per Banco dovete figurarvi una casa di famiglia', expl. (f. 53v) 'per legitimo impedimento dovrà il Governo sostituir altro'. Armorial bookplate of 5th Earl of Guilford with shelfmark 'L/16/E' (pasted onto f. i). '242' in pencil in top left corner of front pastedown of detached cover. Purchased, together with Add. 8662, 8664, 8665, 8667, 8668, 8669, 8673, 8677, 8678, and 8680-8681, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 242 (part).
Paper; ff. 53+i. 270 x 201mm. Horizontal catchwords on each page. One Italian hand. Detached quarter binding kept separately.
