Three relazioni to the Venetian Senate from Vincenzo Querini, Venetian Oratore or Extraordinary Ambassador to Philip of Burgundy, Andrea Querini, possibly one of the Stimadori or appraisers of the Venetian Arsenal, and Nicolò Soranzo, Provveditore generale d'armata or commissioner of the fleet. Table of contents (f. 1) by a later hand. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. Purchased from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot no. undetected.
1. ff. 1-32v. 'Relatione di Filippo Primo di Austria Re di Castiglia, e suoi Stati. di Vincenzo Quirino Ambasciatore Veneto l'anno 1504'; [1506]. Inc. 'Niuna cosa Serenissimo Prencipe, Padri, e Signori miei Eccellentissimi è di maggior giovamento', expl. 'che maggior premio di qualche mia fatica non potria riccevere'. Published in two sections by Albèri: (a) ff. 1-18v in Albèri , s. i, v. i (Florence, 1839), pp. 1-30; (b) ff. 18v-32v (rel. to Portugal and its trade in the colonies) as Relazione delle Indie Orientali di Vincenzo Quirini 1506 in Albèri, Appendice, (Florence, 1863), pp. 3-19. Querini's dispatches relevant to this appointment, dated 27 Feb. 1505-24 Aug. 1506, are published from Venice, Bibl. Marciana, MS. It. VII, 1129 (7452) in C. R. von Höfler, 'Depeschen des venetianischen Botschafters bei Erzherzog Philipp, Herzog von Burgund, König von Leon, Castilien, Granada, Dr. Vincenzo Quirino 1505-1506' in Archiv fur österreichische Geschichte, 66 (1885), pp. 45-256.
