Detailed financial accounts of trade, commerce and industry in various towns and provinces of France for the year 1746, with a supplement for 1745-1750. Possibly compiled by one of the inspecteurs generaux of French industries under the director of commerce Antoine-Louis de Rouillé, Comte de Jouy, and the controller general of finances Jean-Baptiste de Machault, Comte d'Arnouville (1745-1754). Title (ff. 2-3) 'Situation actuelle des Provinces du Royaume de France en l'annèe 1746 / Ier Volume / (f. 3) Memoires concernant la situation actuelle des Provinces du Royaume par rapport au commerce et à l'industrie des villes aux manufactures, au denombrement des peuples et autres memoires', inc. (f. 8) 'Gènèralitè de Paris / Election de Paris / Ville de Paris / Pais d'election / Sa description est ici inutile', expl. (f. 131) 'dans les manufactures titrèes en l'annèe 1750 / Fin du 3me et dernier volume'. Divided in three volumes (ff. 2, 112, 218v). A table of contents at beginning of each volume (ff. 4-5, 113, 219); first volume preceded by Avertissement (ff. 6-7), and Observations (f. 7v); third volume including (ff. 294-313) a Suplement for the years 1745-1750. A note (f. 1) stating that the MS. was copied from papers belonging to Baron Dodo Heinrich Freiherr zu Innhausen und Knyphausen, Prussian Ambassador at Paris (1754-1756), and compiled by his predecessor Marshal George Keith (1751-1754). Stamp of the Colonna library 'Libraria Colonna' in red on ff. 1, 110, and ii verso; for the Colonna library stamp see Bragaglia, vol. iii, T 32: c. 1750. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '119' in pencil in top left corner of f. i verso. Purchased, together with Add. 8718, 8720, 8728, 8729, 8745, 8752, 8756, 8758, 8759, and 8760, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 119 (part).
