LUIGI PARDINI: Poems dedicated to Giuseppe Stefano Zambelli de Turribus; 1791. Italian and Latin. Probably autograph. Collection of poems in various metres dedicated to Giuseppe Stefano Zambelli de Turribus, papal protonotary and referendary in Narni. The MS. is listed in Palma di Cesnola, no. 493, p. 38. Title (f. 1) 'Accademico Trattenimento sopra l'illustri Prerogative di M. Zambelli Patrizio di Trento, ... Protonotario Apostolico ... Referendario Apostolico della Città di Narni e luoghi annessi, Governatore Generale della Terra di Labro, Soprintendente e Cavaliere del Sacro Romano Impero'. Frontispiece (f. 1) decorated with Zambelli's coat of arms, followed by a motto 'Virtute, imperio, vivunt turresque leones, atque his inclinant colla superba homines'. Epigraphic dedication within a classical altar surmounted by Justice (f. 2), and other black ink drawings of landscapes (ff. 7v, 14v), winged putti (ff. 15v, 19), other mythological figures (ff. 22, 25v), minor sketches and ornaments (ff. 5, 8, 10v, 12v, 15, 19v, 27, 29, 32). A quote from Isocrates in Greek and Latin (f. 1v); contemporary table of contents (f. 36v). Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. Purchased, together with Add. 8815, 8819, 8820, 8821, 8822, and 8823, from R. H. Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 5 (part).

Roman binding of quarter brown leather over pasteboards with decorated xylographic paper covers, identical in pattern, but different in colour to Quilici, Carte decorate, no. 17, pp. 86-87.
