PARLIAMENTARY JOURNAL: autograph journal of proceedings in the House of Commons, 20 March 1641-2 March 1642, possibly kept by Thomas Standish, M.P., (d.1642), with contemporary memoranda and lists of tenants at Duxbury, Whittle-le-Woods and Anglezarke, co. Lanc.; 1641-1642. Text imperfect at beginning and end. The volume is not among the manuscript and printed items listed in R. C. Johnson, 'Parliamentary Diaries of the Early Stuart Period', BIHR, xliv (1971), pp. 293-300. For further volumes of a modern edition of Commons Diaries for this period of the Long Parliament, which uses various manuscripts, see W. H. Coates, A. S. Young and V. F. Snow (eds.) The Private Journals of the Long Parliament. 3 Jan.-5 March 1642 (1982); and 7 March-1 June 1642 (1987). Graffiti in the volume, mostly of the eighteenth century, include the names of various members of the Standish family of Duxbury. Purchased from Stride & Son, Chichester, 5 Feb. 1987, lot 289.
