GERMAN, ITALIAN AND ENGLISH SONGS: album of songs with piano accompaniment, with a few excerpts from waltzes for piano; 1845. Mostly published and in various hands. The names of all composers who have been identified are included in the index to the present catalogue. Some anonymous songs may have been composed by their contributors. The first two songs are later insertions on separate sheets. With an inserted poem on headed notepaper bearing the address 'Sprivers, Horsmonden, Kent' (f. ii). Formerly owned by Caroline Louisa Foster, whose signature appears on the verso of the front flyleaf (f. i) and on some songs. Many are signed 'M. H.' or Maggie', 'Hope End May 1845', sometimes with the exact date. Hope End, near Ledbury, co. Heref., was by 1851 the seat of Thomas Haywood, Esq. Purchased from Edward J. Conroy, Esq., 22 Nov. 1986.
