The Benedictine abbey of Saint Lambert at Liessies, founded around 750: its ownership inscription (‘Liber Sancti Lamberti Lesciensis’) in a 12th-century hand on f. 97r; probably inscribed the title (‘Ep[isto]le Beati Cipriani Epi[scopi]’), written in a 12th-century script, on a parchment strip (that formerly belonged to the spine of the original binding) pasted on f. 1r; its ownership inscription (‘Liber monasterii S. Lamberti Laetiensis prope Avesnas in Hannonia cui restituendus est’) added in a 17th-century hand on f. 1v; inscribed by Etienne Baluze (b. 1630, d. 1718), scholar, when the manuscript was on loan to him: ‘Liber monasterii S. Lamberti Laetiensis in Hannonia restituendus infra tres menses per D[omi]n[u]m de Baluze, datus hac 18 Maii 1703’ (f. 2r) and ‘Liber Laetiensis infra tres menses restituendus 18 Maii 1703’ (f. 96v); the abbey probably owned the manuscript until it was dissolved by French Revolutionary forces in 1791.
