ff. 2r-71v: An abbreviated chronicle of France. from the destruction of Troy to the death of Louis de Mâle, Count of Flanders, in 1383, composed in 1459 by Noel de Fribois, councillor to King Charles VII of France. There are five successive versions of the text. This manuscript is one of eight belonging to the 'A' family, considered the most complete version of the chronicle (Daly, Abregé des Croniques, 2006).
ff. 72r-95v: A series of short treatises, including 'De la dignité Roial'(On Royal prestige), 'Des bonnes meurs et condicions des François' (On the excellent ways of the French), 'De noblesse' (On nobility), 'De la proprieté des pierres precieuses, dont est faite mencion en l'Apocalypse' (On the properties of precious stones as described in the Apocalypse); 'De l'excellence, dignité, et prerogative du Roy' (On the prestige, rank and privileges of the King), 'Les dignitez et honneurs seculiers et ecclesiastiques' (the rights and privileges of the laity and the clergy) and a brief defence of the right of Charles VII to the crown of France, against the claims of Henry VI. of England, beginning, 'Et pour brieve conclusion final' (f. 95v).
Decoration:
A decorated initial in red, blue and gold with a monogram and partial rinceaux border (f. 2r). An initial with rinceaux decoration in blue, red and gold (f. 3r). Initials in alternating red and blue at the beginning of paragraphs. Line-fillers in red and blue. Rubrics and Latin text in red.

Etienne Chevalier (b. c.1410, d. 1474), secretary to Charles VII, king of France, and from 1452 treasurer of France, written and painted for him: his monogram 'E C' in the initial on f. 2r.
?Jean II, count of Horne, Belgium, from 1531: an ink-drawing of a bust of a woman with headdress, and an erased inscription 'C'est a Mons[ieur] le conte de Hornes', on a flyleaf (f. 1r).
Philippe II de Montmorency-Nivelle (b. c. 1518, d. 1568), count of Horne: his motto 'Tout a temps Montmorancy' on a flyleaf (f. 1v).
Lines from Cato and Virgil written on a parchment endleaf (f. 96v) with the date of 1557.
Henry Farrer (b. 1798, d. 1866), picture dealer and restorer; bought from him by the British Museum, 10 March, 1843.
