CHART OF THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD OF EUROPE. 'A Chart of France & Ireland also Holland & Denmark & Part of ye Mediterranean England, Scotland, Spain, Flanders, also Norway, Sweden Sea [sic]'; circa 1690-1710. Anonymous. Plane chart, formerly in an atlas (ink number 21 on verso), showing western Europe and highlighting sandbanks to east and west of Great Britain and in the Baltic, as though highlighting hazards in sailing from Irish, northern European, and Baltic ports. The style bears a generalised resemblance to the work of William Hack, but with sufficient differences (e.g. in the lettering) to indicate that it is not, and may be slightly later than, Hack's work. Decorative surround with roundels containing two zonal diagrams and two harbour scenes. Purchased from Roderick Barron, June 2002.
