Note written in black ink on leaf 1 reads: "Purchased of Rodd 8th Jan. 1842". Burmese mode of transliteration on sticker on leaf 1 suggests that the manuscript was brought back from Burma, and initially may have been taken to Burma from Thailand. Thomas Rodd junior (1796-1849) was for many years the official agent for the British Museum Library.
