J. Fragment (bifolium) of a theological work from Italy, probably Tuscany; late 14th or early 15th cent. (script and language). Italian. The two leaves are not consecutive: the first complete section on the recto of the first leaf (f. 24) beg. 'La seconda cosa sie malvagia paura difar grande penitença' and the final section on the verso (f. 24v) beg. 'La sexta battaglia che molto [a?] forte e contra malvagi'; the first section on the recto of the second leaf (f. 25) beg. 'Lo secundo ramo e rivestire cipoveri ignudi' and the final section on the verso (f. 25v) beg. 'Lo quinto ramo sie albergare [i?] viandanti'. Pen flourished initials, alternating in blue and red: three line (f. 24), and two line with rubrication (f. 25). Formerly the vellum cover of a printed book, Decreta et constitutiones synodales Piscionensis (Pistorii, 1628) (British Library shelfmark 1609/936). Transferred from the Department of Printed Books, 3 June 1975.

The beginning of Numbers is marked by a gold, silver, blue and pink zoomorphic initial, whilst Leviticus xxvii is marked by a pen flourished initial in blue and red. Rubrication and some later annotation.
