"POETRIA Galfredi Anglici" (so colophon): the Nova Poetria of Geoffrey de Vinsauf, beg. "Papa stupor mundi." Dedicated to Pope Innocent [III., 1198-1216]. Edited from four unnamed MSS. by P. Leyser in 1724. The text is poor, with many mistakes and misplacing and omission of words and lines. The passage "Imperialis apex," etc., omitted in many MSS., is included (f. 37). With a marginal commentary and many interlinear glosses, the latter partly in Latin, partly in a dialect of Italian (see ff. 11 b, 12, 19, 19 b, 20, 27, 28, 29b, 30, 30b, 32b, 34, 35). Colophon: "Explicit poetria galfredi anglici deo gratias. Amen. 1382." Vellum; ff. iii. + 38. 12.1/8 in. x 8½ in. A.D. 1382. Written in Italy. Illuminated initial on f. 1; other initials in red and blue. Bookplate of Charles Joseph Harford, F.S.A. of Bristol, and his arms on the cover. Bought by him (f. ii.) from [G.] Sael's Catalogue in 1794; Sotheby's sale-cat. 6 May 1907 (cf. 37494), lot 112.
