TWO FRAGMENTS of [the same?] history of affairs in Europe and the Levant in the latter part of the 16th century, in Italian. The first portion (ff. 1-77) deals, after some preliminary explanations, with the history of the year 1585 ; the second (ff. 78-197) with 1595. The latter portion has an old foliation beginning with f. 245. In both cases the greatest space is given to affairs in France or to those in Turkey and the East, but Savoy, the Papal States, Spain and England also come under notice. Beg. "Fra le cose memorabili succedute all' età nostra." Paper; ff. ii. + 197. 10¾ in. x 8 in. Circ. 1600. On f. ii. is the inscription (17th cent.) "Ex libris Petri Palatii Brixiensis" (a Pietro Palazzi lived at Brescia 1664-1720; see Tiraboschi, Lett. Ital., viii. p. 230); also a monogram A.B. Afterwards in the Colonna library (book-stamp, f. 1, etc.); in the collection of Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford (sale-cat. 1830, lot 399, 9); and in that of Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS. 5674, sale-cat. 1896, lot 534).
