Certificate by Jehan de Bruges, Seigneur de La Gruthuyse, Prince de Steenhuyse, Governor of Picardy., of the services of Baudouyn de La Plancque, "homme d'armes des ordonnances du Roy" under his command, 13 Feb. 1507. Fr. Signed. The writer was son of Louis de Bruoes, cr. Earl of Winchester by Edw. IV. in 1472; he himself resigned the earldoin to Hen. VII. in 1500 (see Egert. MS. 2830). f. 1.
2. - de Rochebaron to [Baudouyn] de La Plancque, asking him to find a gentleman willing to exchange an estate in France for his barony of Zelthun and La Plancque in Artois; 7 Aug. 1559. Fr. f. 2.

7. The échevins and "cuerhaers" of Berghes St. Winoch [Bergues] to "Monsieur de Prouens" perhaps François de Provins, Seigneur de Lauwanebourg, head of the deputation to Hen. III. of France in 1580 to offer the sovereignty of the Low Countries to the Due d'Alençon, see Le Boucq de Ternas, Recueil de la Noblesse des Pays-Bas, p. 366], asking to be taken under his protection owing to the incursions of the French; 29 Nov. 1575. Petition by the principal Catholic citizens of Brussels to [the Prince of Orange?] through their deputies Roeland Longin, escuier, "viceconte" de Berges St. Winnoch [Bergues], and Jacques van der Noot (see M. de Vegiano, Nobiliaire des Pays-Bas, 1865, p. 1440), esceuier, that they may be allowed to exercise their religion, this having been forbidden by him in consequence of the seditious behaviour of some Catholics; 11 Aug. 1582. Fr. Signed by all the petitioners. Many add their trade(?)-marks, and several sign also for their wives or mothers. f. 13.
