LETTERS of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to Nikolai Frantsevitch Daniel'son; 1868-1895. A Russian translation of the letters by G. A. Lopatin has been published (Pisma Karla Marksa i Fridrikha Engelsa k Nikolayu-onu, St. Petersburg, 1908). Those of Karl Marx are dated 7 Oct. 1868-13 Dec. 1881, those of Engels (f. 31), 11 Feb. 1885-4 June, 1895. Marx usually signs himself A. Williams, and Enges F. Rosher. The subjects dealt with are Daniel'son's Russian translation of Marx's Das Capital, the affairs of the International Working Men's Association, and general questions of economics, particulary with reference to Russian conditions. The first few letters of Marx and portions of others are in German, but the majority of them, and all those of Engels, are in English. Among the latter's is included (f. 79 b) a Russian letter from A. Konsky to Daniel'son, 25 Feb. 1895, concerning a proposed German translation of one of his works. With the volume (ff. i.-iii.) are bound up two letters from Daniel'son to the British Museum regarding the collection, 1, 20 Oct. 1910. Paper; ff. iii. + 83. Octavo. Presented by N. F. Daniel'son.
