DIARIES of George Romney, the portrait-painter, recording about nine thousand sittings; 27 March 1776-31 Dec. 1795 (omitting 1785 and including a few entries of accompts in 1798). The entries are made on the blank pages of printed diaries and are mostly autograph, but sometimes in the hands of the sitters or others. Purchased at Christie's in 1894 (with 38088) from Miss Elizabeth Romney, the painter's grand-daughter, by Thomas Humphry Ward, who published the contents in his Romney, etc., 1904, pp. 81-131. Paper; seven volumes. Octavo. Presented by T. Humphry Ward, Esq.
