LETTERS from John Ruskin to Rawdon Brown, of Venice, with drafts of some of Brown's replies; 1850-1881. The correspondence deals mainly (but not exclusively, being throughout in terms of intimate friendship) with Ruskin's works on Venetian art, in which Brown gave constant help by answering questions, conducting negotiations, etc. In the earlier letters are a few rough sketches of architectural details. The letters are most frequent during the first three months of 1877, while Ruskin was in Venice; but most of these are mere notes. The last letter is dated Brantwood, 11 Dec. [1881], and is followed by a draft of Brown's answer, 15 Dec. Paper; ff. 225. Quarto. Presented by William George Cavendish Bentinck, Esq.
