HISTORICAL ESSAY on the staining and painting of glass, by Thomas Willement, F.S.A.; circ. 1834 (watermark). Holograph. Part of the volume is in form for printing; the remainder consists of notes. It does not appear among Willement's printed works. The prospectus on f 1 has the title " Chronological Illustrations of Staining and Painting on Glass in England, most carefully drawn and coloured from the best existing examples of each period," but the work deals with the history of painting on glass in general. No drawings of stained glass are included; but for the author's collection of drawings see Add. MSS. 34866-34873. Paper; ff. 67. Small Folio.
