THE VOYAGE of St. Brendan, etc.:-
1. " Augustinus de Caritate," i.e. St. Agustines Tractatus decem in Epistolam Joannis ad Parthos (Migne, Patrol. Lat. xxxv. col. 1977). Beg. " Meminit caritas vestra." f. 2.
2. Note (purporting to be by St. Clement) of twelve Fridays to be observed annually by Christians. Beg. " Isti sunt duodecim dies ueneris qui obseruandi sunt christianis. Ego Clemens Romanus pontifex parabo uobis uitam eternam." f. 87 b.
3. " Augustini de Babtismo libri vij." (Migne, xliii. col. 107). Imperfect, breaking off in lib. iii. 6. Beg. " In eis libris quos aduersus epistolam parmeniani." f. 88.
4. " Vita sancti Brændani abbatis the Voyage of St. Brendan. See the Cat. of Romance,#, ii. pp. 516-557. The present MS. is much older than any of the copies described there, and it necessitates some modification of the remarks made on pp. 519, 522 as to the date of the story in this form. The text is practically identical with that printed by Jubinal, agreeing usually (where his MSS. vary) with Paris MS. 3784; e.g. St. Malo is not mentioned (see f. 175, MS. has "electis bonis fratribus septem," but on f. 176 " profectus est . . . cum quattuordecim fratribus," as usual). Brendan's visitor is " barindus nepos neil " (f. 162) ; the great fish is " iasconius " (f. 187). Begins: " Igitur Sanctus Brendanu[s] filius finlocha nepotis athil de genere eogeni stagnilen regionis munensium ortus fuit." f. 168 b. Ends, as in Tib. D. iii. (Cat. of Rom. ii. p. 532) Tunc acceptis de fructibus terre . . . . . . inter manus discipulorum gloriose migranit ad dominum. Cui est honor et gloria in secula seculorum amen. Explicit Vita Sancti Brendam." ff. 239 b-240 b. Vellum ; ff. 240. x. cent. Headings in red. Belonged to the abbey of St. Maximin at Trier (ff. 1, 2): press-mark M. 9. Hri.
