CHARTULARY of the Augustinian Priory of Felley, co. Nott., founded in 1156 (subject to Worksop until 1260). Latin. Written early in the 16th cent., the last date mentioned being 20 Apr. 1505 (f. 69). The foundation-charter of Radulfus Brito (f. 24 b) was mutilated at an early date. On two quires at the beginning and end are copies (16th cent.) of: (a) Manorial presentments at Newthorpe, 16 May, 1538, 10 Aug. 1545. f. 2;-(b) Grant by Rob. fil. Johannis de Newthorp to Lenton Priory of lands in Newthorpe, n. d. [late Edw. l.]. f. 3;-(c) Charters in the Beauvale register, now Add. MS. 6060, relating to Newthorpe, co. Nott. f. 134;-(d) Grant of the same lands by Hen. VIII. to Sir William Hussey, n. d. f. 140. The MS. was not used by Dugdale, but is mentioned in Tanner's Notitia as in the hand of Gilbert Millington, whose name is at the end, with date 6 Sept. 1690. On f. 1 is the title " The Booke of Felley callyd the Domesday." Vellum; ff. 141. Early XVI. cent. Rubricated initials. Old oak boards, with remains of leather covers and brass clasps. 10 1/4in. x 8 in.
