" Sea Horse" and senior officer in the Bay of Naples [afterwards Admiral, K.C.B.]; 19 May-8 July, 1799. Nelson's eight letters are, with two exceptions, originals; those of Foote are copies, the originals of some being in Add. MSS. 34911, 34912. The following letters are also included: (a) Lord Nelson to Capt. [Thomas] Troubridge; Palermo, 12 May, 1799. Signed. f. 2;-(b) Sir William Hamilton, Envoy at Naples, to Capt. Foote; Palermo, 18 [June], 1799, Naples, 21 June, 1799. ff. 32, 36 ;-(c) Gen. Sir J[ohn Francis Edward] Acton, Bart., to the same; Palernio, 19 June, 1799. f. 34;-(d) [Adm. George Keith Elphinstone, Baron] Keith, to Lord Nelson; off Corsica, 29 June, 1799. Copy. f. 40;-(e) Benjamin Stow to Adm. Patton; 8 Curzon Street, 23 Apr. 1807. f. 41. The correspondence was printed by Foote in 1807 in A Vindication of his conduct ... in the summer of 1799, and has also been utilized in Nelson and the Neapolitan Jacobins, Navy Records Society, 1903. Paper; ff. 43. Folio. These letters were in the possession of Mr. W. F. Sinclair., whose widow presented them to the Navy Records Society. Presented by the Navy Records Society.
