CORRESPONDENCE Of Major-General (afterwards Field-Marshal) Studholme Hodgson, when in command of the expedition against Belleisle in 1761, chiefly with Williain Pitt and [Charles Windham, Earl of] Egremont, Secretaries of State, and Charles Townshend, Secretary at War, together with other letters addressed to him, to his son General John Hodgson (d. 1846), and to his grandson General John Studholme Hodgson (d. 1870), and various papers relating to them; 1757-1857. The letters to J. S. Hodgson, 1849- 1857, are mainly connected with his services in India, the writers including the Marquis of Dalhousie, Governor-General, Sir Charles James Napier, and Henry and John Lawrence. At f. I is a MS. plan of the battle of Culloden, 16 Apr. 1746. Paper; ff. 109. Folio. Bequeathed by the same.
