NIGHTINGALE PAPERS. VOLS. 1-Xl. Correspondence and papers of Florence Nightingale, O.M. 1907 (b. 1820, d. 1910). The remainder of this archive is now Add. MSS. 45750-45849 (Vols. XII-CXI) and 47714- 47767 (Vols. CXII-CLXV). Some of the documents were printed by Sir Edward Tyas Cook, Life of Florence Nightingale, 2 vols., 1913; by Mrs Ida Beatrice O'Malley, Florence Nightingale, 1820-1856, 1931; and by Mrs Cecil Woodham-Smith, Florence Nightingale, 1950. As a result of the rearrangement made subsequent to the acquisition of Add. MSS. 47714-47767, the description of the present volumes in Brit.Mus.Quart.,vii, 1932-1933,p. 121, is no longer correct. Many original letters from Florence Nightingale will be found in these volumes; included also are typewritten copies of documents selected from archives elsewhere. Eleven volumes. Folio, except 43403, which is octavo. The names of all the writers are given in the Index to this Catalogue. Presented by the Executors of Florence Nightingale.
