CATALOGUE OF CHARTERS AND ROLLS IN THE BRITISH MUSEUM, compiled by the Rev. Samuel Ayscough, an assistant librarian, 1787-1792, with many additions, corrections, etc., by Sir Frederic Madden, Keeper of MSS. 1837-1866, and others. This work was never published. New descriptions of all the charters and rolls were made by the staff of the Department in the middle of the last century, and these, though also unpublished, are available to the public in manuscript form.
