MISCELLANEOUS PAPERS, MAINLY OF THE DUKES OF CLEVELAND; 1756-1872. Included are:-
(1) Accompts of 'Lowthers Plantation', Barbados, owned by Sir James Lowther, 5th Bart. (Earl of Lonsdale 1784), for the year 1756, followed by accompts of the same plantation for 1825, 1827-1829, 1833 and 1835, when owned jointly by William Harry Vane, 1 st Marquess and (1833) 1st Duke of Cleveland, nephew of the Earl of Lonsdale, and by Lord William Powlett al. Paulet. An extract from the accompts for 1833 is printed in Brit. Mus. Quart., ix, 1934-1935, pp. 120-121. Other accompts and papers relating to the Lowther estates in Barbados are still in the possession of the Lonsdale family at Penrith. ff. 1-30.
