CORRESPONDENCE AND PAPERS OF GEORGE FREDERICK SAMUEL ROBINSON (b. 1827, d. 1909), Viscount Goderich, 2nd Earl of Ripon 28 Jan. i859, Earl de Grey of Wrest 14 Nov. 1859 and 1st Marquess of Ripon 1871, the statesman, full details of whose career will be found in the Life by Lucien Wolf, 1921, and in S. Gopal, The Viceroyalty of Lord Ripon, 1880-1884, 1953 (references there given no longer apply owing to subsequent re-arrangement of the papers). This section of the Ripon Papers was presented to the Museum in 1923 together with the First Series, viz. the papers of Lord Ripon's father (i.e. Vols. I-XIX, Add. MSS. 40862-40880), but was reserved from public use until 1933. The majority of the correspondence relating to India was privately printed by Lord Ripon. One hundred and thirty-five volumes.
