'COMPENDIUM UNIVERSAE PHILOSOPHIAE' (f. 3); 1673. Latin. A treatise on philosophy, written perhaps from, or for, lectures, probably in France. Arranged in five parts or 'summulae', with a preface beg. 'Philosophiae principis augustissimi subire' (f. 3). The parts, which are divided into chapters and articles ('puncta'), deal respectively with General Philosophy (ff. 4-5b), Metaphysics (ff. 5b-10b), Natural Theology (ff. 10b-13), Physics (ff. 13-22), Moral Philosophy (ff. 22-28b), and Logic (ff. 28b-70). There is a Table of Contents at the end (ff. 71-73). Inserted in the treatise are:-(a) Engraved portraits of Aristotle and Plato; n.d. ff. 1 b (frontispiece), 21;-(b) A Title-page with engraved border and with the title (varying from that given on ff. 3 and 73, but agreeing with that given on f. 71) 'Compendium Totius Philosophiae 1673' written in, in ink. f. 2;-(c) Seven philosophical diagrams, engraved mainly by G. Jollain of Paris; n.d. ff. 11 b-64, Passim;-
