'VALOR BENEFICIORUM': or, 'A valuation of all Ecclesiastical Preferments in England and Wales': a copy of the printed work, 1695, with extensintensive additions and annotations by the antiquary Browne Willis (1682- 1760), of Whaddon Hall, co. Bucks., including the names of the patrons of the livings and, in the case of Buckinghamshire, the dedications of the churches. The manuscript material presumably forms part of Willis's collections for his Parochiale Anglicanum, 1733, in the preface of which he refers to the 'imperfectness of what has been hitherto publish'd of our Ecclesiastical livings, particularly in the Valor Beneficiorum' (cf. Willis's MSS. in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, S.C. 16294-16403, especially S.C. 16358, which was compiled chiefly between 1720 and 1732); the notes cover, however, a wider range than his printed work, which is limited to the dioceses of southern England and Wales. Paper; ff. iii + 215. Duodecimo. Early XVIII cent. Annotations by Charles Penruddocke (?1828-1899), of Compton Chamberlayne (f. i; armorial bookplate, f. ii), and by the donor, 1934 (ff. i, iii, 215). Presented by Edward Harry William Meyerstein, Esq.
