'STABAT MATER a quattro voci e coro', in ten parts, with orchestral accompaniment, in score, by Gioacchino Antonio Rossini: presumably the version completed in 1841 and published in 1842. Autograph. Another autograph manuscript, consisting of parts ii-vi, at Bologna (see G. Gaspari, Catalogo della Biblioteca del Liceo Musicals di Bologna, ii, 1892, p. 303), possibly represents five of the six parts of the version composed in 1832. On the composition of the work and a related lawsuit, see G. Radiciotti, Gioacchino Rossini: Vita Documentata, Opere ed Influenza su l'Arte, ii, 1928, Pp. 236-265. See also Brit. Mus. Quart., X, 1935-1936, pp. 109-110. Paper; ff. 97. Quarto. A.D. 1841(?). Belonged to Christine Nilsson, Countess of Casa Miranda (d. 1921), in whose memory it was presented by
Julian George Lousada, Esq.
