Essex, and especially to that moiety of the manor of which Robert de Ros or Roos (2nd son of Robert de Roos, lst Baron de Roos of Hamlake) and his successors were chief lords from temp. Edw. I. Nos. 103-137 concern the family of Giffard and their sub-manor of Giffards in Great Sampford held from De Roos. Tempp. Edw. I-Hen. IV. Noticed by Rev. A. Clark in the Essex Review, xix, 1910, p. 44. Vellum roll (of thirteen membranes sewn together). 30 ft. 11 in. x 101/2 in. One or more membranes seem to be missing between the fifth and sixth. XV cent.
