COLLECTION of dance-tunes, numbers from operas, etc., apparently begun by Sir (?) John Rowland (f. 1 b) shortly before 1696 (date of earliest known work), with additions in 1722 (f. 17) and later. The treble of an anthem by Purcell ("My song shall be alway," f. 12 b) is also included. Among the instrumental compositions are "Duke upon Duke" [by H. Holcombe, 1723]. f. 6; "Joy to great Cæsar" (the tune to which G. B. Farinelli set his ground, and Corelli his "Follia di Spagna" variations). f. 8 A new tune to the Prince William, 1722." f. 17; A minuet by Buononcini. f. 17 b; "The Merry Beggars." f. 36 b (reversed); "The Silent Woman." f. 34b; "Love's last Shift" [by D. Purcell, 1696]. f. 31 b; "The Country Wake" [by T.
