CORRESPONDENCE of Sir Henry Ellis, K.H., Secretary to the Society of Antiquaries 1814, Principal Librarian of the British Museum 1827, on various antiquarian and other subjects; among them being the establishment of a naval officers' uniform, "Kings letter-men," precedents for affixing royal signatures by a stamp, the figures on the pediment of the Museum executed by Sir R. Westmacott,etc.;1795-1863. Among the writers are Richard Gough, Samuel Denne, [Charles Abbot, Lord] Colchester, Adm. B. W. Page, William, Duke of Clarence, Sir R. Westmacott and Sir F. L. Chantrey. At the beginning are a letter (f. 1) from William Borlase on Cornish antiquities, 1738, and correspondence (ff. 3-11 b) of R. Gough, 1770-1789. The names of all the writers are included in the Index.
