Thomas [of Strassburg], Prior General of the Order [1345- 1357], and ratified in the General Council at Pavia in 1348. Latin. Vellum (paper fly-leaves with watermarks of late l5th and early 16th centt.); ff. xxv + 46. 9 3/4 in. x 6 1/2 in. XV cent. Initials in red, rubrics generally only underlined in red. Original German binding of stamped pigskin over wood, a panel divided vertically into six bands, the two outermost on each side continued horizontally to form a border, with the repeating legend "Hilf uns Iheaus und Maria," alternating with floral scroll, surrounded by a border of eagles displayed in circular stamps and lozenge-shaped devices with five dots. Brass clasp with leather hinge. Notes of ownership are: Fratrum Eremitarum S. Augustini Friburgi Nuithonum [Fribourg in Switzerland], 1654 (f. 1); the Beresford Hope Library (f. i); and Geo. M. Arnold, Milton Hall, Gravesend (ff. i, xxiii b-xxv).
