COLLECTION of notes, letters, extracts and cutings from newspapers and magazines, engravings, portraits, etc., made by Joseph Riddel chiefly in 1883, 1884, for an intended life of his father-inlaw Edward Hodges Bailey, R.A., sculptor (d. 1867). The papers are grouped about the works of art they refer to, and include original letters from Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquis of Lansdowne, Lord John Manners, John Prescott Knightt, R.A., and other artists. The chief divisions are: (1) Nelson monument, Trafalgar Square. f. 10: (2) Turner statue and medal. f. 20; (3) Racing plate, etc., for the firm of Storr and Mortimer, afterwards Hunt and Roskell. f. 31; (4) Imaginative works. f. 78; (5) Architectural works and monuments. f. 121.
