CORRESPONDENCE of Henry Wallis, R.W.S., Secretary of the International Committee for the Preservation of the Basilica of St. Mark's, Venice; l879-1882. The Committee was appointed at a meeting of the Society of Arts, 31 May, 1880, to keep a watchful eye on the restorations in progress at St. Mark's, and to influence Italian opinion in regard to them by friendly representations. The letters are mainly acceptances of membership of the Committee by artists and others interested in art in the various European countries. The writers' names are given in the Index. Prospectuses in English (f. 99) and French (f. 163), and minutes of meetings in the hand of William Morris (ff. 134, 159) are included. Paper; ff. 164. Folio. XIX cent.
