COMMONPLACE book of Nicolas Rulandt (?), if the real name of the writer is subscribed to letters on ff. 36, 47, the first of which is dated 1637. The contents are as follows: 1. Arithmetical sums and tables. Fr. f. 2. Letters from a young foreign (German or Dutch ?) traveller at Lyons to his father and others; 2 Aug.-9 Nov. 1637. Fr. f. 36.
3. Recipe for ink "von Herr Rector Valentini." Germ. f. 42.
4. Letters from a young traveller to his father; 16 Apr. 1638 and n.d. Fr. f. 43.
5. Puzzles and games with cards and abacus. Fr., Germ., Ital. f. 48.
6. "Plusieurs lettres par lesquels on donne advis du (sic) plusieurs choses à eux (sic) avec lesquels on a quelque correspondance" (probably formularies). f. 62.
7. Songs, mainly amorous and comic, in Fr., Germ., and Ital. f. 70. Paper ; ff. 78. 71/2 x 51/2 - iii. XVII cent. Vellum cover, stamped front, (f. 1) with arms of the city of Amsterdam, 1633, and back (f. 78) with trademark of the "Beurs tot Amsterdam." Transferred from the Department of Prints and Drawings (Schreiber collection).
