VETERINARY and other recipes, in several hands, 17th-18th cent. Prescriptions are ascribed to Lucatelly [?Luigi Locatelli, d. 1637], Markam [? Gervase Markham, who also d 1637], J[oh]n Morrett and Dr. [John] Radcliffe [fl. 1682-1714]. One of the earlier written recipes (ff. 20, 23) refers to " my brother Chich[eley?]" Later entries (e.g. f. 24) seem to be in the hand of a relative of the family of Legh of High Legh, co. Chester, and the crest of the Legh family appears on two seals on f. 2. Richard Legh of Lyme, co. Chest. (d. 1687), married Elizabeth Chicheley, see Ormerod's Cheshire, iii, p. 677. Lord Plymouth is mentioned on f. 24, whether Charles FitzCharles (1675-1680) or one of the Windsor family (after 1682) does not appear. Paper ; ff. 31. Quarto. 7 1/4 in. x 5 3/4 in. xvii-xviii centt.
Transferred from the Department of Printed Books.
