(1) Illustrations made in 1891 for (but not used, except those on ff. 1-9, in) E. R. Pennell's To Gipsyland (1893), an account of Transylvanian Gypsies. Those on ff. 10-25 were published in The Gypsy Lore Society Journal (1908, 1909). Those on ff. 26-66 are unpublished. f. 1 ;-
(2) Illustrations for The Jew at Home, an account of Jewish life in Russia and Galicia, first published in The Illustrated London News (Dec. 1891). The last four (ff. 85-88) are unpublished. f. 67. On f. 89 is an account of the artist's expulsion from Russia, cut from the Pester Lloyd (7 Nov. 1891) ;-
(3) Gypsies at Les Saintes Maries in Provence (1890), with textual references to, but not actually appearing in, Play in Provence, published first in The Century, vols. 42, 43. f. 90;-
(4) Gypsy caves in Southern Spain (1894). The first sketch is published on p. 166 of W. Irving's The Alhambra, illustrated by Pennell (1896). f. 100;-(5) Eastern Adriatic scenes (1894), with textual references to, but (save f. 114) not published in, "Beyond the Adriatic," articles by Harriet W. Preston in The Century, vols. 49, 50. f. 102. Two volumes (Vol. A, ff. 1-60; Vol. B, ff. 61-119). Paper; ff. 119. Folio. Presented by the artist.
