1. " De pace Francie et Anglie " : thirty-three documents issued in the name of Edward III and connected with the Peace of Brétigny. The first thirty are dated Calais, 24 Oct. 1360, the last three respectively 29 Oct., 28 Oct. 1360, 26 Jan. [1361]. Colophon, " Explicit tractatus pacis inter reges et regna Anglie et Francie ex parte regis Anglie." f. 1.
2. " Sequitur tractatus de Belleuill et de deliberacione Ducis de Berry et comitis Dalenceon " : two documents, viz. (a) Edward III's consent to a commission for settling the disputes about Belleville, etc. and to Jean, Duc de Berry and Pierre, Comte d'Alençon, going to France; Westminster, 1 Feb. 1365/6. f. 46 ;-
(b) Form of commission for disputes about Ponthieu, etc. ; n.d. [15 Feb. 1365/6 ?]. f. 49.
3. " Sequitur de donacione principatus Aquitanie facta per regem Anglie predictum Edwardo principi Wallie filio suo post predictam pacem inter reges predictos ut premittitur factam " : six documents concerning, the Black Prince's principality. Nos. 1, 2, and 5 are dated Westminster, 19 July, 1362; nos. 3, 4, and 6 are dated respectively Westminster, 20 July 1362; 23 May 1365; 10 July 1362. f. 50.
4. " Sequitur tractatus Cartonensis [sic, for Carnotensis, i.e. of Brétigny near Chartres] ex parte regis Francie Iohannis": thirty documents in the name of John, King of France, being substantially the counterpart of those in art. 1 above. They are all dated Calais, 24 Oct. 1360. Colophon, " Explicit tractatus pacis ex parte regis Francie." f. 56 b.
5. " Sequitur quidam tractatus de quatuor ducibus Francie obsidibus ratification by King John of France of the treaty made in London, - Nov. 1362 ; Villeneuve de lez Avignon, 15 Mar. 1362/3 . Followed by the oath of the four Dukes, who were released thereby. f. 92.
6. " Sequitur quedam relaxacio facta per regem Ispannie regi Anglie de Vasconia," with six other documents " De Ispannia " in Latin. relative to agreements about Gascony between Spain and England. Extreme dates are 22 Apr. era 1292 [A.D. 1254]-1 Mar. 1362/3. Colophon, " Explicit de Ispannia." f. 95 b.
7. " Sequitur de treugis Scocie captis anno domini millesimo cccmo. LVIImo apud Berewicum super Twedam ": treaty of Berwick, copy of the indenture, 3 Oct. 1357. f. 101 b. Followed by memorandum of the persons to whom the several Scottish hostages were committed. f. 109 b. Vellum ; ff. ii + 113. 10 in. x 7 1/8 in. Late XIV cent. Gatherings of 8 leaves. See. fol. " un an proschein." Bound in sheepskin over hard boards. On f. 113 are the 16th cent. notes : " The preyse of the buke is xxd. ob. qu.," and " Iste libare constat Robarte Beaoschampe draper de Londris," to which a later hand has added the words " a teylor." The table of contents on f. ii b has been taken over by Lelong (Bibliothèque Historique de la France, vol. iii, p. 15, no. 29382), who declares that the book once belonged to Claude Fauchet and was at the moment in possession of M. l'abbé de Clapeyron at St. Germain en Laye. Lelong's description is transcribed on f. 111, with the names of the owners erased. Phillipps MS. 8529 (sale-cat., 1896, lot 512). Entered in Phillipps folio catalogue as from Payne, the bookseller. Presented by the Earl of Perth.
