CORRESPONDENCE of Sir John Hall, M.D., K.C.B. (1856), Inspector-General of Hospitals and Principal Medical Officer in the Crimea, dealing mainly with the administration of the nursing, service during the campaign ; 1851-1857, preceded by a testimonial from Sir J[acob] Adolphus, M.D., Inspector-General of Hospitals [in Jamaica], 1841. The correspondence, which includes many drafts of Hall's replies, was used for The Life and Letters of Sir John Hall, 1911, by S. M. Mitra, who has printed (pp. 72, 420-464 passim) most papers of interest with the exception of the letters from Florence Nightingale. These letters, thirty-one in number (including nine copies ), compose nearly half the volume. Paper; ff. 164. Folio. XIX cent.
