NOTES by N[icholas] Lechmere, [of Hanley, co. Worc., afterwards Knt. and Baron of the Exchequer 1689], of sermons preached by leading Independent, Presbyterian and other divines, at Westminster Abbey, St. Margaret's Westminster, Hanley, Reading, Hereford, Shrewsbury, etc., circ. 1646-1656. Mostly autoqraph. Included are several preached before the House of Commons on the occasion of various fasts and thanksgivings and printed by order of the House ; but, apart from these, the majority are apparently unpublished. The names of the preachers, where known, are given in the Index. Among them are [William] Bates, R[ichard] Baxter, [Joseph] Caryl, [Christopher] Feake, Dr. Th[omas] Goodwin, [Thomas] Manton, [Stephen] Marshall, [John] Rowe, [William] Strong and [Richard] Vines. Three volumes. Paper. Octavo. Presented by Professor G. C. Moore Smith.
